Senior Model United Nations Security Council

On Saturday 26 May, Otumoetai College entered two teams in the Senior Model United Nations Security Council event held at the Council Chambers.   Around 18 teams from the Bay of Plenty and Western Bay of Plenty were represented.
The issue being debated was The Question of Global Health and Wellbeing. Our countries were The Russian Federation and New Zealand.  Russia's members were Ben Kennerley (Year 13), Zoe Macintyre and Alexander Blair (both Year 12), while New Zealand was made up of Toria Park and Nathan Hyland.  Once again, our teams showed consistent, strong knowledge of their countries and the United Nations rules. They worked exceptionally well together and had a very high standard of public speaking.  After a long day, The Russian Federation placed 2nd equal, just missing out to our main rivals Mount College. The Russian Federation was also announced the most popular team (as voted by the other teams).
