 International Students Orientation Day

On Monday 24th July, we welcomed students from Austria, Brazil, Chile, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Norway and Spain to Otumoetai College. Twenty-one new International students had a brief in school orientation before they went out with Learning Journeys for a tour through Tauranga and to the Mount. They visited the waterfront, had lunch at the summit of Mauo and ended with a relaxing soak in the hot pools. It was a good day out and gave them time to meet as a group.

International Students Official Welcome to the College

On Wednesday 26th July the new International students along with the students from Hiroshima Nagissa High School, attended a Powhiri to welcome them to the College.  The College Kapa Haka group welcomed the students with a stirring traditional performance. This Kapa Haka group is attending an international festival in Rarotonga this week and we wish them all the best.

Smokefree Rockquest

After placing 2nd in the BOP Regional Final of the Smokefree Rockquest, Emily Ardern, Grace Finnigan, Flynn McLaughlin, Jahvis Stantiall, and Sloane McNamara (AKA French Doors), ended up being named as one of the Top 30 high school bands in the country. This is a massive achievement for any student group, and seeing as this group is made up entirely of Year 10 students, the future is looking very bright for Otumoetai College rock and roll. Thanks to all the parents, students, and staff who have supported the group. It is pleasing to see the Otumoetai Community get behind a group in their quest to succeed and be happy.
