First XV Rugby

The First XV coaching and management team wish to thank all the players, their parents, whanau and many staff of Otumoetai College who supported our team on Saturday 20th June.

Our school had the pleasure of hosting Mount Maunganui College and Katikati College in a pre-season festival of rugby. The games were all played in great spirit and served the fantastic purpose of reintroducing all players to the hard knocks of rugby.

The First XV squad of 2020 is a youthful one, made up of eleven, Year 11 players, one, Year 10 player and the remaining are a balance of Year 12 and 13 players.  Significantly, we have four staff involved in this year’s team and two ‘old boys’.

We are developing a wonderful culture in the short time we have been together. The coaching and management team all recognise that through rugby we can help young men be; healthy, happy and successful, now and in the future. As such, our rugby programme is built on strong lifelong values.

Importantly, we wish to acknowledge our proud sponsors, Sean Lett from, and Mark Francis from Tremains.

Some of our classes are also tailored around school hours, to enable parents of children to attend while the kids are at school.
