Our best weather weekend this year turned it on for the perfect conditions for the NZ Secondary School Beach Volleyball hosted at the Main Beach. 23 courts made for a spectacular event with 27 Otumoetai teams competing. Stand out results was the Gold Medal in the Senior Girls Div One grade to Holly Boyle/Katie Wood and the Silver in the Senior Boys Div One to James Gilling/Charlie Clague. Will Clague /Jack Boyle won Silver in Div One Junior Boys. James Lellman / Cameron Stewart won Gold in Div Two Junior Boys. Roebi Bidois/Maddie Ragg won a Silver medal in the Div Two Girls comp. Congratulations also to the other athletes who advanced to the Quarter finals Katelyn MacLean/Te Pae Aporo, Melissa Christophers/Marnie Heidkamp , John Ward/Cameron Wragg, Liam Matheson/Daryl Lewis, Willis Glen Vile/Adam Morgan
A lot of these athletes now switch to the full on Indoor Volleyball season with the Senior Prelim Tournament this Sat/Sun at the new Tect arena. 4 Girls and 3 Boys teams will compete in this very competitive qualifying process for seeded spots at Nationals in Summer Tournament week. Overall we have 19 teams competing in local Competitions on a weekly basis with the Year 9 Friday after school Volleyball proving popular again as well.
Mary Mitchell has continued her good performances in Show Jumping with a 4th and 6th in the competitive Junior Rider Class and a 2nd in the 1.15m Championship class at the Opotiki Show event.
Kendall Hofland/Holly McNabb have qualified for the Open women’s coxless quad skulls A final in the NZ Club Champs. This is a very high achievement for our elite rowing pair who are preparing for the Maadi Cup. Congratulations.
